 | Great video on splicing 8 strand multiplait. A couple of tips that may help, on a small rope like that I put the swedish fid in the other way (pointing up the rope) and pull the strand through with my thumb on the strand in the dish of the fid, only open up what you need to get the strand through and no more otherwise you will struggle to get the last strands tucked towards the end of the splice in a tightly laid up or used rope. If I find I pick up fibres with the point of the fid from the strand I am tucking under then try putting the fid in upside down then rotate fid to put your strand in dish once you have lifted enough to pass through the strand you are tucking.
