This video showed me Weezer for the first time when I watched in May of this year. In that short time span they became my favorite band of all time, and I have listented to almost every single one of their albums. Have almost only listented to Weezer since May. It’s such a long story but thank you for that

Fascinating insights into the background of one of my favourite albums - a CD that has a constant place in my car. Now I know the background about it and get the references in the lyrics, it'll be all the more enjoyable. How have I never discovered this Y/T channel before? Looking at sdome of the titles of other videos, I'll be looking through some more over the next weeks.

A year and two months after Sept 11th, in 2002 my aunt was killed in a car accident, The Middle hit me hard but it helped me through that chaotic time as a 14 year old just trying to deal with things.

@JohnColucci88
I am almost 100% certain that 2:28 - 2:31 was filmed at the glorious SKATERS WORLD IN WAYNE, NEW JERSEY circa 96 - 97. A place that is now a crunch fitness. But in the 90s, It was a magical and enchanted place - with an arcade, ninja turtles neon glow in the dark art work - and mediocre pizza that you were too young to give a shit. And where the DJ - (booth thing you cam see in the video) loved to play Ace Of Bases "All that she wants" or "I saw the sign" almost every other 5 songs. RIP 1990S - RIP YOUTH

@Kyle-mw3bo
I think Static Prevails gets overlooked, its certainly an album by a band in the midst of its evolution but it has so many songs that are experimental while closing with a bang
Комментарий от : @Kyle-mw3bo

@BangarrangTV
I would say Carson Daily saved the band. I remember watching TRL and Carson played a song of his choosing during the countdown, and it was The Middle. It was the first time I've ever heard of them and then The Middle was a staple in airplay rotations going forward after that point.

@trope5105
I bought this album at walmart in 2001 for 4 friggin dollars in the discount bin. no lie, n i always assumed it was cause it wasnt popular at first, and flopped, n now i realize it was def 911 and the title that made it so cheep! it was the first cd i ever bought, on9-22, the day after my birthday, when i finally got a cd player for my birthday! the cd my parents got me, which was my first, was the armageddon soundtrack lol. i was so grateful for that little cdplayer boom box thing, as my parents were poor, but spent the money anyways,, my dad however regretted the decision instantly lol.. if that thing was above volume 1, he was bustin down that door lol. i got some headphones not too long after i imagine, but i dont remember that lol

@Person4649Person
If you listen to Bleed American, you can literally hear all of Fall Out Boy's first couple of albums, and a decent amount of MCR's and P!AtD, and numerous other groups from 2002-2005. However the quality of Jimmy Eat World's writing is better, especially musically. I'd only say MCR is equal because they have a variety of influences as well. The songs "If you Don't, Don't" and "A Praise Chorus" are great non-singles.

I remember going to see Green Day during their American Idiot tour. Jimmy Eat World was opening, I told my wife we can’t be late, I HAVE TO SEE the opening band. It was the first time I saw an arena already packed for an opener. I’ve been to so many concerts that I’ve forgotten most, I still vividly remember them playing The Middle. What a time it was.

@arkhamnights
I think even the band themselves is thankful for the success of the middle. However I think they saved themselves. Just an amazing work ethic and drive to just be the best they can be and to put out good work that they're proud of. That was the reward. In almost 30+ years that have been super humble and it's been a greta to be a fan of them. You don't have to love every single one of there albums but you know when they put something out it's coming from a place of integrity and high quality (eventually you may even come around to it). I think Jim Adkins is that one in a million combination of super talented and super hard-working that he was going to succeed eventually. When you listen to Static and see them perform live around the time they where heads above their peers (the whole entire band was fucking on point). The general public is always slow and it's a lesson to people out there that sucess is a grind. Now the middle is a gateway to an exceptional catalog and it allows them to keep putting out more work (since no one buys albums anymore).

@mewgiah8057
I always loved this record but had no clue its rich history and background. Like many teenagers at the time, the Middle blew up on MTV and I bought the album the year it came out.

It’s always been one of my favorite records due to nostalgia. But I remember when Futures came out, I got it on release date and instantly knew that it was a more mature and adventurous record.

So over the years Futures kind of overshadowed it for me similar to Pinkerton vs Blue Album. But after watching this video ive spent the past year diving into Bleed American and its a lot better then I gave it credit for. Really glad I watched this documentary as it helped me see all the tiny influences and homages weaved throughout. It truly is a colorful collage of Americana music.

And its just a damn good record.

@Breezewax
Another great video. Thank you Trash Theory. I haven't listened to every Jimmy Eat World album but will always have a soft spot for them and their emotive and melodic compositions. While I will always have a fondness for Bleed American as my introduction to the band and emotional alternative music, like many fans here Clarity was, and remains, the one for me. I weirdly came to it in my late teens/early 20s as a student some years after Bleed American and that's when I truly became a fan.

One thing that was left out of this video is the promotion from Tom Delonge. And at the time blink-182 was the biggest band in the world and definitely reached the 11 to 23 year old demographic. Tom singing Jimmy Eat World’s praises relentlessly drove countless numbers of fans of blink, to Jimmy Eat World as Bleed American was being released.

@AGrrrlsTwoSoundCents
In addition to having incredibly timeless records, one of the other things I've always loved so much about Jimmy Eat World was how emblematic they were of the death of the so-called "rock 'n roll lifestyle." According to journalists who spent time on the road with them, it was always their crew who had been doing all of the reckless debauchery, and never the band. It just shows that music can be great and stand the test of time, and the musicians can simultaneously not be assholes, which I always appreciated

@greenghost-xi5jp
Jimmy eat world is trash i use to like them even saw them OPEN for third eye blind yr and a half ago. Then the lame guitar player (wont even mention his name) had some negative things to say about third eye blind. Well buddy sorry but they still headline and still get tons more plays on spotify and all other services as well as sell music still. They dwarf jimmy eat worlds plays and sales. This is fact dont b jealous cause the girls dont and never did like you. Thats literally the issue hes jealous they have women and he/his band doesnt!

@Kamina1558
One of the things I like about Jimmy Eat World outside of their music, is I feel they never went out of their way to match a certain look, like later “Emo” bands. Like I always liked melancholic, morbid, gothic stuff... but, I also love the antiestablishment, rebellious nature , and going against the system nature. of Punk. And as an independent doesn’t identify with any party. (And maybe punk isn’t those things. Maybe that’s just a fiction I picked up on in life.) but, I never wanted to call myself “goth” or “Emo” or “punk” cause Im not into these things for the fashion. I’m not much of a fashion person anyways. But, I just never wanted to conform to a certain look to be part of a crowd or fit in with people. But, I like the music. And I’ve listened to Jimmy Eat World since Bleed American. I wish I got into them sooner. Their one of my favorite. But, the world wasn’t like what it is not. The internet existed... but I didn’t have social media in 2001. I didn’t have a MySpace or Facebook or Youtube.. and if they existed at the Time. I don’t think they did. Then i didn’t know they did. So, learning about different bands and music was different then. But, man they helped get me through my highschool years.
